From Past to Present

From Past to Present

The passionate students who started OTD in 1994 committed to creating a club that was more than just a business; it was a dedication to creating meaningful impact both locally in Kingston and globally. As a 100% student-run and not-for-profit retailer, our core values lie in community and charity impact.

OTD proudly became the first official business ratified by the Queen’s Commerce Society in 2009, all thanks to our peers’ support. Don't believe us? Some even say we are “way better than Tri-colour!”

Our name, “Oil Thigh,” comes from Queen’s University’s Gaelic Football Fight song—an anthem representing the school spirit we all know and love.

A Commitment to Charity

We recognize the impact of giving back. Last year alone, we raised $25,000 for Tri-Colour Classics Commerce vs. Engineering Basketball Game in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. This significant donation was a testament to our philanthropy and community impact. We are motivated to foster relationships within the university and support causes globally.

Acknowledging Our Roots

“Oil Thigh Designs (OTD) is situated on the unceded traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, and following a forced relocation, the Haudenosaunee, peoples.

At OTD, we acknowledge that this land continues to be the home of the Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee, as well as for a significant community for Métis and Indigenous Peoples from other nations across Turtle Island. In 1783, this land was colonized through the deed known as the 'Crawford Purchase,' a historical event that shapes our present.

As Queen's University students, we urge you to consider how Canada's current prosperity is directly tied to the oppression and violent colonization of Indigenous peoples. The effects of these actions are ongoing, and it is our duty as the incoming generation of young workers to learn about the territories we occupy, and the Indigenous Peoples’ lands we are now situated on. At OTD, we are committed to working towards a relationship that fosters reconciliation and continuous growth and learning with our surrounding community.”

What’s next for OTD?

For years, we have created designs that allow Queen's students to represent their university proudly. We will forever remain committed to our mission of empowering students and serving the community. We have loved having you around for the journey and know you are at the core of our success. Together, we can continue making a lasting difference and building our happy family.

Check out our homecoming collection now on our site, and keep an eye out for new collections coming this year!

With so much luv,

OTD
